I’m Mat (all pronouns), the person behind Sleeping Raccoon Author Services. It brings me so much joy to create content that celebrates and promotes the authors I love and their books.
I have been a professional writing consultant for over 10 years now, sometimes freelance and sometimes through universities. This includes a Master’s certification in professional writing, as well as continuous formal training as a writing consultant and editor.
As a consultant, I take on many roles, from coach to line editor. This is the approach I’m bringing to this business: meeting writers where they are, adapting my services to fit their needs, and supporting them as they tackle the challenging work of writing and publishing.
I’m currently a PhD candidate and writing my dissertation on “unruly” bodies in contemporary queer memoirs. Romance novels give me an escape from the often emotional and painful stories I read and write about. I collect hobbies, but reading and art have been consistent loves in my life. Another consistent love of mine is television. I have the same 7-10 shows on a constant loop. My parents, brother, and best friend are my favorite people in the world and are the only ones I will answer the phone for when they call without warning.
